When her own dog Jack, went missing Private Investigator Karin TarQwyn found herself
experiencing the worst crisis of her life. Like many people Karin had never given thought to the possibility
of her own dog going missing. "I was unprepared in every way and here I was a P.I. and search and rescue K9 handler
with a trained dog; yet I felt helpless and hopeless as I searched for ways to find him," explains TarQwyn.
After four and a half months Jack was found and she
switched her agency focus from missing people to searching for missing pets. Through the years she has honed her skills,
refining the search and recovery process to steps and tasks based on behavioural profiling, escape event analysis and
environmental influence factors. Due to the nature of a missing STARS dog, Karin and the dog team are called out
regularly to facilitate the recovery of these elusive and frightened canines.
